Windows 95 Setup


To Connect to ScoastNet using Windows95 carry out the following steps
(printing out this page is suggested)

  • 1. Ensure you have TCP/IP protocol and Dialup Networking installed. These should be found in the "Network" (in control panel) and "My Computer" icons respectively. If you do not have both these installed either consult your Windows 95 dealer or Click here for instructions and return here when you have installed the Dial Up Networking.

  • 2. Double click <My computer> then open the <Dialup Network>. If this is your first dialup connection then it will automatically start the <Make New Connection> program. If not, double click on the <Make New Connection> icon.

  • 3. Type in the name for your connection, say "ScoastNet", and select a modem you will use. (NB. This is assuming your modem was detected correctly when you installed Windows 95, and please try to setup your modem speed at 19200 or 38400)

  • 4. Click on the <Next> in the <Make New Connection> windows. Now enter the details about the phone number you wish to call. They are

    Area Code 02
    Telephone Number 0198333954
    Country Code Australia (61)

  • 5. Click <Next> and then click <Finish>


Connection method

Double click the connection <ScoastNet> (or the name you named at setup)

Type in your login name

Type in your password

(make sure the phone number is correct)

Now you can press <Connect>

When you see your connection speed, you are on the Net !

Now you can double click your Netscape or IE to surf the Internet.

[ If you do not have the latest version of Netscape or Internet explorer, you can temporarily use the Windows95 build-in web browser (Internet Explorer), then "download" the latest version of software from the Internet or contact us for a disk copy]


Mail And News Server (Setup Configuration)

Outgoing Mail (SMPT) Server : marlin.scoastnet.com.au

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server : scoastnet.com.au

POP3 Username : Your login name (same as above)

Your Email password will be the same as your login password

Your Email address will be : your login name@scoastnet.com.au



Startup Homepage <options> <General Preferences>

Please setup your start homepage as "http://www.scoastnet.com.au"
